      <biogHist><p>&lt;b&gt;1867 Bruxelles, Marché aux Herbes, 86&lt;/b&gt;
Johann Reinhard (Giovanni) Brosÿ or Brosy, ° 13.12.1830. Arrived in Belgium on 10.3.1867. Operator at the Barboni studio. Private: Rue de la Madeleine. Son of Daguerreotypist Ferdinand Brosÿ and himself an itinerant Daguerreotypist throughout central Europe from 1852 onwards (Venice, Innsbruck, Linz, Vienna, Olmütz, Bolzano) before operating in Cremona (IT) in 1858. Brosÿ's stay in Brussels must have been brief and took place shortly before he embarked for the USA to join his mother Elisa - Ferdinand's widow - in New York City. Subsequently operated until the mid 1870s in New York City where he acquired American naturalisation ("John Brosy") on 26.9.1872.</p></biogHist>
