<b>1896 - 1897 Bruxelles, Rue Auguste Orts, 14, "Brasserie Flamande"</b> Short-lived group "composed of a large nucleus of members" (L'Objectif, 1.10.1896, p. 18), founded on the model of the similarly named Antwerp circle. Its official bulletin appeared in the periodical "L'Objectif" from late 1896 to early 1897. It would appear that Edouard De Meuter was president and that Louis Van Neck and Louis Stainier were also involved. According to a newspaper article in November 1896, the group had already existed for several years (for which we have found no evidence) and aimed at "the dissemination of photographic science by means of public lectures, mutual instruction and working together. To achieve this aim, the Cercle, which has acquired numerous members, will soon be inaugurating a free public course on photography" (Le Peuple, 14.11.1896). Public evening meeting at "Brasserie flamande" on 17.11.1896 comprising a lecture on x-rays by Léon Dehaut and a magic lantern presentation of photographs by Alexandre.
