Léon Clerbois subsequently became head clerk in the Brussels communal administration. The couple's later years after World War I took an unorthodox turn. Léo Klary, aka Léon Clerbois, "emigrated about 12 years ago to America where he settled in Florida and travelled to Hollywood, giving French lessons, taking photographs and even making films. Before his departure, consecutive to retirement, he added to his function as a clerk in the Brussels communal administration the practice of photographic art with which his wife was mainly associated" (Le Soir, 25.12.1931).
