<b>1894 Anvers</b> Helena Ludovica Mathildis Alexandrina, ° 7.2.1864; + 9.10.1949. Writer, traveller, watercolour artist. A nurse by training, she developed an interest in anthropology. De Harven travelled around Canada from August to December 1891 to study native tribes, a trip that furnished material for many lantern-slide talks, such as "The Last Redskins" at the "Société royale belge de Géographie" on 7.11.1907. Credited with a photograph taken at the Antwerp "Exposition Universelle" published in a collotype album under Joseph Maes' imprint. A souvenir display of the section "Vieil-Anvers" included 34 prints attributed to C. & H. de Harven. De Harven Frères were awarded 7th prize in the photography competition run by the 1894 exhibition’s organisers.
