<b>1901 * - 1906 Rome [I]</b> ° 16.6.1884; + 26.8.1914. Son of Amand Gilles (see that name) and his second wife Marie-Désirée Massart. A seminarian at the Gregorian University in Rome, he took photographs of Rome and during his journeys there through France, Switzerland and Northern Italy, in particular stereo views of architecture and landscape. They are now held at the "Archives photographiques namuroises". Ordained priest in Namur on 22.9.1906, he became curate of Couvain on 19.9.1908. Murdered during the German invasion at the outbreak of World War I.
