      <biogHist><p>&lt;b&gt;1863 - 1894 Courtrai&lt;/b&gt;
Albéric Stanislas, ° 2.5.1843; + 22.5.1897. Textile manufacturer and, from 1866, joint owner of the spinning mill "Linière de Courtrai". Landscapes, urban views, architecture of the Courtrai region, reproductions of his family's art collection. In 1863 and 1864 he made stereoscopic views of Ypres, Bruges and Damme. His stereos (about 200) bear an ink stamp "GD" set in an oval. This probably stands for Goethals - Danneel, after his mother's maiden name. Treasurer of the "Société Photographique de Courtrai". President of the Courtrai Chamber of Commerce. Collection of negatives in the Broel Museum in Courtrai. The "Letterenhuis", Antwerp, holds letters written by Goethals to the Flemish poet Guido Gezelle (1830-1899) between 1877 and 1891.
The Kortrijk municipal archive houses the "Collection Albéric Goethals", a series of glass negatives, including cityscapes, some in stereo. The brief online commentary proposes a date range from 1860 to 1913 and states that some were taken by Albéric's father Vincent and cousin Victor Vercruysse (see entry for Dominique &amp; Victor Vercruysse). Like his son, Vincent Bruno François Goethals (° Courtrai, 12.4.1797; + Courtrai, 11.8.1881) was a textile manufacturer and also a town councillor: see entry for Goethals (- Danneel), Vincent.</p></biogHist>
