Chloride plates for slides. Opal plates" [Rozez, 1891]. Successor company to "Dr Baeckelandt & Cie", founded on 8.1.1891 by Jules Emmanuel Guequier or Guéquier (° Wachtebeke, 2.7.1848; + Ghent, 17.11.1929); his wife Valérie Marie Gleesener (° Ghent, 26.12.1847; + Ghent, 3.8.1942) was the main shareholder. Guequier - Gleesener, described as a manufacturer of photographic plates, had already registered a trademark at this address (no. 126) on 19.9.1890 in his name only for "L'Avenir, improved photographic plates". In advertisements for the brand, Guequier - Gleesener in September 1890, then R. [sic] Guequier & G. Van de Poele in March 1891. The company, which exploited its previous incarnation’s patents after Leo Baekeland had relinquished his interest (and liability for debts) and emigrated to the United States, was liquidated on 17.1.1894.
