<biogHist>
1885 ca - 1908 Eecloo, Rue de la Station, 89, 20<95ca-08> or 18
Seraphinus Richardus, ° 11.11.1857; + 17.3.1919. Married Maria Sophia Alida Walleghem (° Alost, 12.7.1871) in Eecloo on 9.11.1891. Initials sometimes "R.S." in directories. Consistently advertised as a photographer and graphic artist. Heysse was also a printer and bookseller. His printing works operated at no. 16 (renumbered 20) in 1895. It is unclear when Heysse ceased operating as a photographer although he was still listed under photographers, with no street address, in the 1914 directory. He certainly continued as a photomechanical printer. He commenced publication of a weekly free sheet “Annoncenblad van Eecloo en het Meetjesland” on 2.6.1907 including advertisements of properties “in photo-engraving as natural illustrations”. The last documented issue dated 26.1.1908 contained an illustration of Heysse’s shop at Rue de la Station, 20.
1892 - 1906 Eecloo, Grand Place, 71
Set up his letterpress printing works here in 1887. In January 1890 it was announced that Heysse would soon start publishing a new periodical titled "Le Photographe" at this address. Also photography studio here.
1895 * - 1898 Maldeghem, Voorstraat, premises of H. Laureins
First Sunday of every month and, by appointment, the following day.
1898 Maldeghem, “opposite the town hall”, premises of Louis Verstynghe
1901 - 1905 Maldeghem, Edestraat, next to the pharmacist
Advertised sittings on one Sunday afternoon per month, generally the first, from May to October. Series of picture postcards of Maldeghem, “collotype R. Heysse, Eecloo”, postmarked 1903 and later.
</biogHist>
