Toussaint Emile Antoine, ° 1.11.1843; + 16.8.1911. Originally a draughtsman and recorded as a clerk at his wedding in Brussels - Saint-Josse on 25.11.1882. Massaux spent most of his working life in the service of the "Commission royale des monuments" and rose to the highest administrative function with his appointment as secretary to that body in 1904. "As a young man, he began by accompanying members of the Commission on their [field] trips and photographing the buildings that they were studying. [...] The reports drafted by Mr Massaux were models of informed precision" (La Meuse, 19.8.1911). Member of the ABP from 9.3.1875. Knight of the Order of Leopold.</p></biogHist>
