1898 - 1914 > Turnhout, Steenweg op Oosthoven, 23 Paper manufacturers, specialising in the production of marbled paper. Manufacturers of baryta paper for photography. Founded in 1872 by pharmacist Jean François Meses (° Geel, 15.10.1814; + Turnhout, 15.2.1893) who had married Constantia Joanna Elisabeth Goris (° Geel, 21.8.1814; + Turnhout, 17.3.1891) in Geel on 12.6.1843. It is unclear if their son Clément Meses (° Turnhout, 16.7.1845; + London [GB], 1909) was involved in the company and whether or not he was the son mentioned in the firm's name. What we do know is that their son-in-law Albert de Vics de Cumptich (° Leuven, 31.1.1844; + Dongen [NL], 24.5.1920) and his descendants ran the firm for an extended period of time from at least 1905 onwards. The business remained active until about 1960.
