<b>1898 - 1903 + Virton, Grand'Rue, 26</b> Marie Florence Vilaine, ° 30.4.1835; + 16.11.1903, widow of Jean - Baptiste Raty (° Neufchâteau, 22.8.1828; + Virton, 8.6.1892). Printer and bookseller. Publisher of picture postcards. A pioneering regional printer-publisher of collotype postcards, the first appearing in 1898. Advertising postcard in 1900, "Buy your picture postcards here". The earliest postcards bear a credit "H. Raty", possibly her daughter Hélène Augustine Raty (° Virton, 8.4.1874; + Virton, 23.11.1962). Subsequently, Veuve Raty's successor acted as publisher only and the printing was undertaken by specialist firms such as Desaix and Nels.
