President of the "Photo-Club de Berchem - Anvers". Member of the "Cercle d'études photographiques et scientifiques d'Anvers" from at the latest 1902. Member of the photography section of the "Katholieke Kring", 1904-1905. Subsequently, Rubbens was Louis Van Neck’s partner in the portrait studio at Rue des Cérises, 7 where they operated as successors to Hugo Piéron (- Loodts), 1907-1911. <b>1912 - 1914 Anvers, Rue du Verger, 230</b> Domiciled again in Antwerp - Berchem in 1920, where he remained active at various addresses until about 1935. In c. 1930, Rubbens made copy negatives (18 x 24 cm.) from original wet plates taken by his predecessor Hugo Piéron of Antwerp canals in the 1870s. The Museum of Photography in Antwerp possesses bromide prints from these. His son Marcel (° Antwerp, 16.2.1896) was also a photographer.
