"Seasonal Gifts. Portrait miniature, painted in ivory and mounted on a magnificent broach, for 3 fr. 90 instead of 15 fr." (Le Soir, 2.12.1905). "Wanted: a photographic printer" (Le Soir, 28.4.1910). On the occasion of his wedding on 12.4.1911, Edmond Sober was recorded as an optician resident at this address. His younger brother Emile Charles (° Brussels, 27.5.1869), who acted as a witness, was recorded as a photographer aged 42 resident in Brussels and lived at this address from 30.10.1908. He had been recorded as a draughtman when the Sober family moved to this address on 4.11.1896. A third, youngest brother, Oscar (° Brussels, 13.3.1871) was recorded as a trainee dentist in 1896 and as a photographer in the 1900 population register. He was resident here from 17.5.1902 to 29.3.1904 and again from 14.7.1906 to 30.1.1907. Oscar subsequently traded as "Photographie Éclair" (see entry). Photography listed here until 1912; therafter, activities summarized as "optics [and] postcards". Final listing of E. "Express Photo" at this address in an advertisement from 1912 (Le Soir, 1.12.1912). The studio was offered up for sale in April 1914. 1911 Ostende, Galerie Léopold II Postcard bearing this address and three Brussels studios (Rue des Fripiers, Rue Neuve, 17 and Galerie de la Reine) dated 23.10.1911. 1912 - 1913 Ostende, Rue de la Chapelle, 26 Postcard postmarked 20.9.1912 at this address. Advertising here in June 1913. According to Norbert Hostyn, "Photo Sober" operated in Ostend, Rue de Flandre, 6 around World War I.
