<b>1839 * Namur, Hôtel de Hollande</b> Also Antonio, ° 29.4.1792; + 27.12.1867. Printseller active in Namur from 1838 to 1842. Experimented the Daguerreotype in partnership with a member of the aristocracy, as reported in the local press: "Benefiting, these last few days, from the rare moments when the sun's rays have penetrated down to us, Monsieur Tessaro, printseller in this town, and the Marquess de T. have made haste to attempt experimenting Daguerreotypes [sic] that the mist and rain prevented them doing previously. Withdrawn to a drawing room in the Hôtel de Hollande, they fixed on their metal plate the image of a large and magnificent gilt clock. In a few moments, Daguerre's instrument had copied this object with its ordinary [sic] precision, the most minute details are rendered on the plate that we have just seen, the drawing is most accurate...(L'Eclaireur, 10.12.1839). This is the first documented instance of a still life taken with a camera in Belgium. A hypothetical identification of Tessaro's partner would be Gillion Charles Joseph Henri de Trazegnies d'Ittre, Marquis de Trazegnies d'Ittre (° Nivelles, 15.10.1772; + Corroy-le-Château, Gembloux, 3.5.1847).
