<b>1909 - 1924 / Namur, Rue de Fer, 52<09>, 62 or 68<13-24></b> Predecessor: Thiel Emile Ovide ° 14.5.1872. Son of Emile Ovide Thiel (see that name). At his wedding in Namur on 30.11.1904, recorded as a photographer domiciled in Bouge (Namur). Auguste was already advertising at no. 52 in 1909 for a retoucher and then for "an operator with perfect knowledge of bromide papers" (Le Soir, 11.6.1909 and 28.7.1909) and there are photographs signed by him at this address. However his father Emile retained a listing in directories until 1913, either erroneously or indicating an uncertain transition period from father to son. Auguste remained active after the First World War. In December 1924 his lease at this address ended and his effects were sold publicly. Interestingly, Thiel's stock of negatives was acquired by no fewer than four firms: Gilles-Ledoux, Jean Lemaire, Joseph Piron and Camille Vessié (see those names). They advertised in April 1925 that interested customers could contact any of them. This instance of commercial pooling is probably unique in Belgium.
