      <biogHist><p>&lt;b&gt;1861 - 1865 ca Bruxelles, Rue Saint-Jean, 16&lt;/b&gt;
Barthelemy Marie, ° 12.4.1825; + 26.4.1895. Handwritten label signed with surname affixed to the back of a CV showing Mont Saint-Martin in Liège taken from Boulevard de la Sauvenière and a panorama SV of Bruges. His views of Bruges, either in SV or CV format and of which at least 14 are known, can be dated to late April or early May 1861. Turgard was established in Paris, Rue du Plateau, 15 in 1863-1867. He had links to Brussels where he witnessed a daughter's wedding certificate in September 1863. Turgard was never registered at the Brussels address, where a family member earned his living as a barber in the early 1860s. Turgard’s series of stereo views of Belgium and the Rhineland were commercialised by Gaudin in Paris and identified with the initials "B.T." or "T". This may be the same Barthélemi Turgard, worker-poet and revolutionary socialist, who was active in Paris in 1848-1849.</p></biogHist>
