<b>1907 * - 1913 Bruxelles, Rue du Musée, 1 (Musées Royaux)<07-11></b> The attempt to establish a federative body of photographic clubs in Belgium was an initiative of the "Institut international de photographie" under the leadership of Ernest de Potter. The initiative was launched with the publication of draft articles of association dated 31.5.1906. The purpose consisted of "the study of issues concerning photography and its multiple applications, the formation of collections relating to these studies and principally the dissemination of knowledge concerning photography and photographic documentation." Long trailed, the inaugural meeting did not take place until 30.11.1907. The committee members for 1909 and their respective affiliations were as follows: president: Ernest de Potter (Institut international de Photographie documentaire); vice-presidents: Jules Bouy (Club d'amateurs-photographes de Belgique), Charles Van Laer (Cercle d'études photographiques et scientifiques d'Anvers); technical director: Julien Navez (Cercle photographique d'Ixelles); secretary general: Ludovic Fraeys (Cercle photographique de Bruges); secretary: Fernand Ocreman (Photo-Club Malinois); delegates: Max Defrenne & Edmond Strybol (Cercle d'études photographiques et scientifiques d'Anvers), Henri Remes (Photo-Club d'Anvers), Ab. Delvoie (Cercle photographique du Limbourg), Florian Deppe & Emile Jonas (Cercle photographique d'Ixelles), Charles Jossart (Photo-Club de Gembloux). An excursion to Holland was organised under the auspices of the Union on 18-19.7.1909. The "Cercle de Photographie" [Antwerp] still referred to itself as a member of this organisation in September 1911 (Petites Nouvelles Photographiques, 1.9.1911).
