Recorded as a cigar maker living in Ghent at his wedding in Ghent - Mont Saint-Amand on 12.8.1882. He signed "L." for Léopold. "A." for Albert in directories, "L." on ink-stamped CV at no. 18<90 ca>. His father Alexander Augustus (° Ghent, 14.9.1832; + Ghent, 14.5.1885) was also recorded as a cigar maker at the wedding then as a photographer when witness on his grandson Auguste's birth certificate in November 1882 and again as a photographer living in Kapelaanstraat on his death certificate. <b>1891 - 1920 > Gand - Mont Saint-Amand, Chaussée d'Anvers, 10</b> Sometimes spelled "Van der Straeten" in the directories. Photographs also exist at this address with the first name of Charles printed on the front and Leopold’s ink stamp on the back, 1900 ca. Léopold's son Auguste (° Ghent - Mont Saint-Amand, 6.11.1882) was also recorded as operating with his father at this address in 1906. Léopold was still operating at this address in the 1920s.
