      <biogHist><p>&lt;b&gt;1910 - 1914 &gt; Anvers - Borgerhout&lt;/b&gt;
Edmundus Eugenius Maria Cornelius, ° 12.12.1885; + 7.5.1965. Member of the “Cercle d’études photographiques et scientifiques d’Anvers” in 1910. Member of "Fotografische Kring Iris", 1912-1922. At the club's exhibition "Farms and country views", held in December 1915 - January 1916, Vermeylen’s display was singled out for praise: "His eight photographs are without doubt the best in the exhibition, some reproducing splendid masses and silhouettes of farms and barns" (Vlaamsche Nieuws / Vlaamsche Gazet, 1.1.1916). Moved to Boechout after World War I. Vermeylen’s main activity as an amateur art photographer took place in the interwar period, up to 1932. He produced limited-edition portfolios of monographic architectural studies, three of which are in the collection of the Photography Museum in Antwerp.</p></biogHist>
