<biogHist>
1863 */ Verviers, Crapaurue, 230
° 30.10.1839; + 19.12.1899. Perhaps already active from 1860 onwards. He is said to have taken an exterior view in Verviers in 1861 (the Hauzeur firm in Gérardchamps). Advertisements by his son Edouard have been found which claim that the studio was founded in 1862. He established himself in Mr Desart-Clébant’s garden in April 1863. "Edouard Fils" on CVs.
1863 * - 1870 / Verviers, Rue David, 15
Opened on 20.10.1863. Sometimes written "Wetstein" on CVs. Photographed the carriage of the newly deposed and captive emperor Napoleon III in Verviers as well as the hotel bedroom in which he slept on 4.9.1870.
1870 * - 1899 + Verviers, Rue de la Tranchée, 34, then 36<92-99>
Successor: Wettstein Edouard Fils
He consolidated his reputation as the best portrait studio in Verviers for nearly 30 years. Recorded as "Ed. Wettstein Fils" until his father Samuel’s death in 1877, then "Ed. Wettstein". Also stationery and picture framing. CV with credit "Ed. Wettstein Fils" at no. 34 bearing a mounted label for Armand Weber, optician in Verviers, no doubt a distributor. Member of the ABP from 11.2.1879. In November 1893 his elder son, also Edouard (see that name), became his partner.
</biogHist>
