Hat maker and British amateur photographer. Founding member of the Dukenfield Photographic Society [Cheshire, GB], inaugurated on 17.4.1887, and vice-president by 1893. Ainsworth took part in an organised photography tour of Belgium in 1887. The itinerary comprised Antwerp, Ghent, Bruges, Ypres, Audenarde, Brussels, Waterloo and back to Antwerp. During World War I, Ainsworth gave lantern-slide lectures to raise funds for Belgian refugees. The presentation on his 1887 tour, which has survived, included 19 slides of Audenarde and surroundings, featuring inter alia interior views of the town hall and Sint-Walburga church.
