° 8.4.1875; + 17.2.1934. The archives of the Royal Palace in Brussels hold a folder containing 44 views of the Alps, Venice, and Italy taken by H.R.H. Prince Albert on holiday, between 1890 and 1894. "The King, when he was Prince Albert, devoted himself to the art of Daguerre, and brought back from his visit to America a fine series of views taken by himself and given to his parents" ("Annales de la Société royale d'archéologie de Bruxelles", vol. 28, 1919, pp. 18-19). Patron of arts and science, Prince Albert was Honorary President of the ABP from 1897.
