Alfred Ernest Victor, ° 10.3.1850; + 5.1.1918. Captain in the Engineering Corps; commander in 1890, lieutenant-colonel in 1904. Patent of 30.6.1877 for "a photo-telegraphic camera" (optical apparatus not using photography). Algrain gave a talk on photography to the "Excelsior" literary circle in Bruges in December 1890 and displayed his photographic work at the same club in February 1892. First president of the "Cercle photographique de Bruges" from its foundation in February 1892.
1894 - 1897 Bruges
Resident in Bruges from February 1894 to July 1897 when he left for Liège. At this point, Algrain resigned the presidency of the "Cercle photographique de Bruges" and was appointed its honorary president. Algrain was still living in Liège in May 1905 but no trace has been found of photographic activity there nor in Vilvoorde, where he was resident in February 1911.
