Activity
1893 * - 1895 / Bruxelles, Rue Neuve, 126
Franz Josef, ° 31.10.1873. Initially registered in Antwerp on 27.11.1892 coming from Cologne [D] when he was an operator with Henri Schueren earning 30 francs a week. Alt moved from Antwerp to Brussels on 4.12.1893 and was probably an operator in the Gervais studio at this address. Left for Cologne on 14.9.1894. Returned from Dortmund [D] on 6.2.1895, then left again for Cologne on 30.9.1895. He was back in Antwerp on 3.3.1898 and again on 7.10.1899 coming from Luxembourg. Alt married in Antwerp on 17.2.1900.
1902 * - 1913 Anvers, Rue du Scorpion, 40<07-08> or 38<13>
After his frantic journeying, Alt settled down at this address on 15.3.1902. Only listed in directories as "Alt, F." from 1907 onwards. Perhaps Alt was not operating on his own account in his early years living at this address. Soldier in the German army during WWI. One unverified source records that he fell in Macedonia in October 1918. Alt's widow received permission to return to Antwerp from Germany in October 1919.
