Maurice's younger brother Robert (Robertus Renatus, ° Poperinghe, 1.7.1885; + Ostend, 10.4.1966) had joined the studio in 1901. According to Jan Dewilde, resident at Rue au Beurre, 11 until 1906 when the family moved to more spacious premises with studio on the upper floor with a full glass roof. Increasingly committed to recording all aspects of urban life in Ypres and surroundings, Maurice styled himself "reporter-photographer". On advertising cards, 1907 ca, mention of branches in Poperinghe and Bailleul [F]. There are postcards of the 1910 Brussels International Exhibition dated 28.7.1910 and bearing the credit "Antony Permeke".
Maurice left Ypres for France just after war broke out, by 15.10.1914, returning to Belgium after the death of his father in Enghien-les-Bains [Val-d'Oise, F] on 2.9.1919. He moved to Ostend with his mother and brother Robert on 5.11.1919. Initial prints at Rue Euphrosine Beernaert, 18 bear an ink stamp "Photo Antony, d'Ypres". Thereafter Robert gave up photography and became a commercial traveller. The Antony studio became the best known in Ostend in the interwar period; it specialised in news and documentary work and did not operate a portrait studio. In 1949, an exhibition celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of the studio, acknowledging its origins in Ypres.
