Son of the Daguerreotypist and photographer Edmond Autin (1817 - 1866) who operated in Le Havre [Seine-Maritime, F], from 1848 to 1859 and thereafter in Honfleur [Calvados, F]. Former pupil of the "Ecole des Beaux-Arts du Havre".

At this address from 25.8.1877 until 4.9.1878, when he left for Amsterdam [NL]. Operated in Le Havre [Seine-Maritime, F] from the end of the century until 1912, when he left for Montivilliers [Seine-Maritime, F]. A certain Auguste Raoul Autin was buried in Père-Lachaise cemetery, Paris [F] on 2.3.1920.
