Predecessor (at no. 3): Pelizzaro Joseph; Buffa Joseph #
Daguerreotypist. Arrived in Ghent in 1833. At that time he was a print dealer. "All sorts of items for painting and drawing and office supplies. In the same shop we also take daguerreotype portraits, for 5 fr. and above" (Messager de Gand, 20.3.1853). Left Ghent in 1857. Also recorded as a printseller here in 1857 was Jean Baptiste Avanzo (° Pieve Tesino [IT], 10.10.1827). A closing-down sale of a large number of engravings took place at this address on 16.11.1857. Amongst the various effects for sale was a "daguerreotype" (i.e., a daguerreotype camera). In 1865, when he was again trading as a printseller in Ghent, this time in Rue des Champs, Avanzo displayed a specimen print overpainted by Firmin Bouvy (see that name).
