Joannes Baptista Jacobus Primitivus, ° 24.6.1842; + 8.2.1898. Photographic supplies; mainly specialised in projection devices and views. Glass plates exist with a label "Photographie J. Ballion" and possibly dated 1878. Recorded at this address in 1882 as a member of the "Société Géologique de Belgique". Leading collector of living and fossil molluscs, he gave lectures to the scientific congress in Ghent in 1890 and the "Société scientifique de Bruxelles" in 1896. It is unclear why Jean Ballion was posthumously listed as a photographic supplier at this address, unless subsequent activity should be associated with another family member such as his son Jacques Henri (1875 - 1913).
