Edgar Joannes Karel, ° 22.8.1893; + 18.3.1973. Initially a butcher. Reportedly a member of "Ecole de Photographie" from 1913. Treasurer of said club from 1921 to 1926. Turned professional in the immediate post World War I period and active as a professional photographer in Ghent until 1948; at Sint-Michielsplein, 8 and Burgstraat, 85 in September 1944. Best known for his series of portraits of Flemish writers, the negatives of which are in the collection of the Letterhuis in Antwerp.
