Emile Antoine François, ° 9.5.1828; + 19.3.1914. Originally an engineer and professor at the University of Liège until 1861. Gave a lecture on photography at the University of Liège in 1858. He moved to Verviers in 1861 where, in the 1870s, he became an electical engineer and first used a telephone in 1879.

Engineer and member of the Brussels communal council. His firm "E. Bède & Cie" acted as a licensing broker for patents in the field of photography, 1899-1901. Honorary then ordinary member of the "Club d'amateurs photographes de Belgique".
