Initially painter-decorators, then photographers. There were four brothers: Louis Bernard (° Ghent, 17.2.1839; + Ghent 5.4.1887), Théodore Victor (° Ghent, 29.4.1835; + Ghent, 20.12.1885), house painter and decorator, former pupil of A. de Baets at the Academy of Ghent and prizewinner for perspective in 1856, Auguste Charles (° Ghent, 10.1.1838), and Edouard Charles (° Ghent, 31.10.1844; + Ghent, 23.1.1890). Acquired the negatives of Ed. Renoz’s studio in 1869. Edouard was a founder member of the ABP.

Successor: Beernaert Veuve Edouard (supplies and plates)
"Rue Hareng Pec." Transfer to this address announced in October 1871. François Michel, operating a portrait studio at Place du Commerce, 12, in 1881, claimed to be their successor. No longer listed here as a photography studio in the 1882 directory.
