Auguste Alexis Adolphe Alexandre, ° 16.4.1814; + 14.1.1877. Jesuit. From 1842, professor of botany, zoology and mineralogy at the Collège Notre-Dame de la Paix in Namur. Published extensively, including "Flore de Namur" (Brussels, 1855), the first Belgian book on botany to include dichotomous keys for identifying species. Associate member of the "Académie Royale de Belgique". An album of his photographic experiments (views, portraits and reproductions of works of art, including salt paper prints) is held at the "Archives photographiques namuroises".
