Registered at Rue Neuve, 15 from 9.10.1862 as a photographer, then Rue Neuve, 42 on 1.2.1869, then Montagne de la Cour, 84 as a fine art dealer. Dealer in "modern paintings", 1870-1872 ca. Auction house at this address. Left for Paris on 25.3.1878. “Galerie Bernheim-Jeune” is one of the oldest surviving art galleries in Paris. In its early days, the gallery promoted realists, Barbizon school painters and, in 1874, the first impressionists.
