Activity

1879 - 1880 Wavre
Jean Guillaume Louis, ° 19.5.1854; + 8.3.1936. On the occasion of his wedding to Célestine Victorine Francis (° Wavre, 7.10.1849) in Wavre on 16.1.1879, Bertels was recorded as not having a profession. Victor Jude-Francis (see that name) signed as a witness at this occasion and he became Bertels' brother-in-law (having married sisters). Bertels was subsequently recorded as a photographer domiciled in Wavre at the birth of a daughter there in July 1879, again with Victor Jude signing as a witness. Interestingly the back of a CV reads "Photographie Thauvin" at the top and "J.-G.-L. Bertels / Wavre" in the middle, which clearly suggests some type of affiliation with his brother-in-law. At the birth of another daughter in January 1881 in Bierbeek, Bertels was recorded as an assistant teacher there.
