1903 * - 1914 > Hasselt, Rue Maagdendries, 13<03-10> then 11<11-14>
Moved their studio from the Rue de la Chapelle, 69 to this address on 15.9.1903. Both Auguste and Célestin were also landscape painters. Célestin was the brother with the greatest artistic talent, also known for his paintings of the Campine region. This is the address given in the ABP membership lists (sometimes "Blanckaert"). Also collotype printing at this address. Célestin signed photographs with his diminutive "Stin Blanckart". Boudoir card signed "Gust. & Stin. Blanckart", c. 1909. Célestin left Hasselt for Brussels in 1909. He was registered at Avenue Louise, 41 in 1910 where he was most likely an operator for "Maison Fabronius" or Gustave Buyle at this address. The partnership of "Aug. & Cél. Blanckart Frères" continued to operate in Hasselt for several years.
After World War I, the brothers seem to have gone their separate ways. Auguste continued operating at this address and had branches in Tongeren and Sint-Truiden, while Célestin was active at Havermarkt, 23, where he used the trade name Modern-Photo. Célestin got married in Liège in 1921 and operated a portrait studio in Rouen [F], Rue Claude-Groulard, 3 in 1936. He was deported and perished during the Occupation.
