Henri Joseph, ° 16.12.1833; + 4.6.1894. Sometimes spelled "Blankaert". Worked at Plumier’s studio ("Passage Saint-Hubert") before forming a partnership with Victor Sallas in Charleroi from 1860 until 1863 (see Sallas [Victor] & Blanckart [Henri]).

Studio opened on 20.5.1861. J. Neys was a bleacher and dyer. "The studio will be arranged so as not to inconvenience in any way those persons coming to pose. Trainee photographers sought." Operated here until early April 1863 when he left for Hasselt.

First domicile after arriving from Charleroi on 20.4.1863, recorded as an artist photographer in the population register. At a wedding in Brussels on 11.7.1863, Joseph Blankaert [sic] was recorded as a photographer aged 29 resident in Hasselt. Blanckart advertised: "For more details, apply to Mr Wynrokx, house painter, rue de Diest". This is probably P. Wynrocx, who subsequently went into partnership with Guillaume Van Laer (see that name).

Initially recorded here in March 1864. Coexisted with Hasselt, near the station and Tongres, Hôtel Saint-Antoine.
