Activity
1908 * - 1918 / Courtrai, Rue Notre-Dame, 25
Predecessor: Ruys - Morel August
Gustave Hermann, ° 17.2.1877. "Manager-operator" at Ruys - Morel's studio in Tournai from as early as 1897 and his successor from 6.9.1908. Moved to this address on 28.11.1908. Also photographic supplies at this address. Secretary of the "Union professionnelle des Photographes de Courtrai, de Tournai et environs" in 1913 and member of the "Union des Photographes Professionnels de Gand" from 5.11.1913. There are indications that he cooperated with the German occupying forces during World War I (for instance, by publishing an album including portraits of the local commanding officers). He abandoned his studio and left Courtrai for Germany, together with his family, towards the end of the conflict. He was removed from the population register as a German national in October 1918. Succeeded at this address by Gaston Gyselinck (see that name) soon afterwards.
1908 - 1910 Tournai, Rue des Clairisses, 4
Predecessor: Ruys - Morel August Successor: De Maeyer (- Cappaert) Jules
Still advertising here in January 1910. After moving permanently to Courtrai, Boehm seems to have closed or transferred this branch in May 1910, perhaps to avoid direct competition with his predecessor and past employer. Still listed here in the 1914 Mertens & Rozez directory.
