Jules Pierre Eugène, ° 11.12.1841. Family name transcribed "Boidson" on birth and wedding certificates. Elder brother of Jacques (see that name). On his father's death certificate of 1.5.1867, he was recorded as a draughtman aged 26 domiciled in Brussels - Schaerbeek. His profession was again given as draughtsman on his mother's death certificate on 29.10.1868, which he signed "Jules Boitson".
On the occasion of his wedding in Hal on 24.9.1879, he was recorded as an architect domiciled there. However, only four days later, when joining the ABP on 28.9.1879, "Eug. Boitson" was recorded as a photographer in Brussels. No street addresses were given in the membership lists until 1882. In the light of the absence of prints signed by Boitson and his infrequent listing in business directories, successive addresses are drawn from ABP membership lists. It is plausible that for much of his career, Eugène was an operator in others' studios rather than an independent photographer and studio owner. The same hypothesis is equally valid for his brother Jacques.
1883 - 1888 Bruxelles - Schaerbeek, Rue des Coteaux, 41
In 1884, he is not listed at this address, but at Géruzet’s studio.
1889 - 1893 Bruxelles - Jette, Rue Léopold, 23
1894 - 1900 Bruxelles - Laeken, Rue Masui, 101 or 181<98-99>
"E. Boitson" at no. 101 in Mertens directory, 1898-1900.
1901 - 1903 Bruxelles - Koekelberg, Chaussée de Jette, 418
Successor: Boitson Jacques
1904 - 1906 Bruxelles - Jette, Rue Léopold, 81
