° 11.10.1857. Optician. Photographic supplies. Sometimes transcribed "Bouquiau". Advertising as an optician at no. 30 as early as June 1890 and at no. 40 by September 1890. Subsequently advertising at no. 34 from April 1894, consistently as "E. Bouquiaux" or "Maison Bouquiaux". Already selling stereoscopes with views "from every country" in October 1890 (La Flandre Libérale, 5.10.1890). By January 1914, Bouquiaux had moved to another location in Ghent. His son "Edgard" Raphaël (° Ghent, 5.9.1887; + Ghent, 17.7.1965) would continue his work as an optician. Advertisements for Edgard from the interwar period mention that his parents had founded the Ghent-based business in 1886.
