Optician at this address from 1829. Braga took over the long established business owned by his late grandfather, also François Braga (+ Ghent, 5.3.1833), stocking "all types of spectacles, optical and mathematical instruments, etc." (Le Messager de Gand, 6.4.1834). Bought a camera from Alphonse Giroux in Paris and made his first daguerreotype together with Joseph Pelizzaro on 22.10.1839 at Philippe Van de Velde’s town house: a view of the tower and church of Saint-Nicolas with surrounding buildings. For further details, see entry for Joseph Pelizzaro. Recorded in Ghent in May 1853, aged 43 and in October 1856 aged 46. "Braga brothers, opticians" in 1866. Left Ghent for his native Palanzo [IT] on 7.11.1883.
