Optician. Son of Marc Brand. Previously resident in the Brussels branch at Rue de la Madeleine, 32, Gustave moved from Brussels into this address on 9.10.1875, when he was recorded as a photographer. This was after the façade was altered to accommodate an entrance to the premises, in accordance with planning permission granted on 19.2.1875. Gustave was active here, perhaps for a while with his two daughters Mathilde and Constance, though they were not registered here. The business traded as "Brand Frères" since it was a branch of the Brussels firm. In the 1890 population register, Gustave Brand was recorded as an optician at no. 2.
