Life dates

Aalst, 1828 - Mechelen, 1901

Activity

1857 - 1858 Malines, Rue des Lépreux, 10 (private)
Guillielmus Victor Maria, ° 1.1.1828; + 27.5.1901. Recorded as a photographer on two occasions, on 10.5.1857 and 25.9.1858, but appears to have left no substantive trace of his activity. At his wedding in Malines on 30.6.1857, Breckpot declared however that he was practising no occupation. Thereafter recorded as a clerk in August 1859 and in the 1866 population register as a "bookkeeper at the charity workshop [and] trader in wines and spirits".
1871 Malines, Marché aux Grains, 21 (private)
Once again recorded as a photographer resident in Malines when signing as witness on the death certificate of his sister in Aalst in June 1871. Photography was probably a sideline for Breckpot as his main occupation seems to have been in the liquor trade. He moved to this address in 1866; the building is known today as "Den Breckpot".
