° 11.6.1833; + 13.5.1871. Sometimes transcribed "Broeckaert". Engraver - lithographer. First permanent studio photographer in Sottegem and subsequently Grammont. He called on his customers at home to make photographic portraits. "Photographic portraits on glass, on paper, and on metal plates" (Le Bien Public, 27.1.1855 to 17.6.1855), which points to him operating initially as a daguerreotypist.
1858 * Renaix, Rue du Poivre (on Mr. A. Couvreur's premises)
It was reported on 24.10.1858 that Broekaert had been staying in Renaix for about 8 days and had photographed a very large ox named "Leviathan" there. He reportedly photographed on metal plates, glass and paper and offered "photographic portraits from 5 to 30 francs" (La Renaisienne, 24.10.1858).
1862 * - 1871 + Grammont
Also lithographer and printer at this location. CVs signed Broekaert - Mehauden.
