Arthur François Joseph, ° 26.11.1879; + 21.4.1977. Tailor and grocer. Bought a camera in 1896. Started to photograph his customers in 1902. According to Guillaume Michiels, he opened a studio in De Haan / Le Coq-sur-Mer in 1909.

Took a series "Les ruines de Flandre". In 1926, Arthur Brusselle started a partnership with his son "Arthur" Auguste Marcel Brusselle (° Bruges, 26.5.1901; + Brussels, 19.10.1935). Brusselle et Fils [Brusselle en Zoon] was dissolved on 11.4.1930 and Arthur senior continued the business by himself. Operating at Steenstraat, 41 from 1929 onwards, where "Photo Brusselle" was still advertising in 1990. Later studio material mentions: "founded in 1909". In 1941, Brusselle refused to sell his collection of some 400 to 500 images of buildings in Bruges to the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage (KIK-IRPA), Brussels. His archives are now held in the Bruges municipal archives.
