"Cercle artistique, littéraire & scientifique d'Anvers" scientific department, photography section. Initially known as the "Association de[s] photographes amateurs d'Anvers" and at least until its collective display at the "Grand concours" in Brussels in 1888. First recorded meeting announced to take place on 2.3.1886 (Het Handelsblad, 27.2.1886). In 1886-1889, president: Alfred Algrain. In 1894, president: Hippolyte Wouwermans. In 1896-1899, secretary: Stanislas Goubau. In 1903-1911, president: Hippolyte Wouwermans; secretary: Jacques Van Berkestyn; treasurer: Emile De Winter. In 1895-1904, vice president: Edouard De Meyer. In 1905-1908, vice president: Jules Willenz; librarian: Auguste Demblon; laboratory commissioner: Stanislas Goubau. 32 members in 1904. The photography section held exhibitions of photography and stereoscopy in conjunction with the Antwerp section of the ABP in March 1904 and on 12-19.3.1905. At the section's silver jubilee banquet, "Mr Wouwermans recalled the section's foundation ...as well as all the activities that have marked the last twenty-five years: projection evenings, exhibitions, lectures, 'bric-à-brac' evenings, etc." (Le Matin, 26.2.1911).
