Coming from Ostend, "Mr Cerf, optician from Brussels, Daguerreotype Portraitist, has arrived in Bruges. He only intends to stay a few days in this town" (Journal de Bruges, 17.9.1842). The identity of this precocious itinerant Daguerreotypist has not been established for certain but it might well be Henri Cerf (see that name).
