Photographic supplies. Gustave Charlier (see that name) arrived here on 5.2.1864 and left on 22.1.1866, while his business partner "Guillaume" Joseph Valentin Dortu (° Thimister, 13.2.1833) arrived here from Thimister on 10.2.1865 and left again for Thimister on 27.5.1865. Advertising photographic supplies here in May 1865 when they claimed to be the sole Belgian agents for Joseph Dupont's (see that name) photographic collodion (L'Indépendance Belge, 31.5.1865). French patent of 14.8.1865 for a "box for fumigating photographic paper". Sole representatives in Belgium and the Netherlands for the "Etablissement Central et Permanent d'Agradissements Photographiques", a firm located in Hyères [Var, FR] and directed by a certain "Rolloy Fils". Romain Talbot from Paris was advertising Charlier & Dortu's ammonia fumigation boxes in early 1866.
