A commission which selected the most significant and interesting works in the domain of the arts, sciences, and literature for the purposes of copying and exchanging them with other countries. Its premises were in the "Bibliothèque Royale". The department for photographic reproductions for sale, exchange and information, founded in 1894, consisted of 357 18 x 24 negatives on 31.12.1900. At the same date the collection of collotype views of ancient monuments of the country, begun in 1894, comprised 85 30 x 40 views, published by the Jumpertz firm under the title "La Belgique monumentale et pittoresque". In 1905, the Commission's "artistic section" held 2406 photographs available for copying.
