Paul Marie Adolphe, ° 2.4.1860; + 9.3.1905. Soldier and colonial civil servant, he was appointed inspector-general of the Congo Free State in 1899 and then Vice Governor-General in 1904. He committed suicide soon after receiving Roger Casement's report on atrocities committed in the Congo under King Leopold II’s dominion.
