° 24.4.1838. Advertised here at the end of March 1866. "J. Coucke has the honour to inform the public that he will be settling here as a photographer. He creates portraits on cartes de visite, portraits for medallions, brooches, on waxed canvas, on glass, for rings, portraits of the dead etc. He undertakes home visits for those who wish it. He takes portraits in all weathers" (Het Advertentieblad van Veurne, 28.3.1866). The 1866 Furnes population register records him as a photographer living at no. 10. Coucke then left for Meulebeke on 13.3.1867. Upon his return to Furnes on 20.1.1870, he was recorded as a railway clerk. Subsequently, he left Furnes for Ostend on 30.4.1874.
